Quick comment: amazingly, 40 was the band to be on, down this way. The
higher bands picked up towards the end of the contest as the effects of the
solar dfisturbance wore off. Eu on 20 m was mainly long path as is usual during
winter, and both paths on 15 with huge echos.
The WPX doesn't appear to be as popular in JA as the CQWW contests. In
hindsight, it was a fairly tough contest, We'd work a band dry with a
combination of calling and hunting, then QSY to the next one sounding alive
and repeating the process, then back to the previous one again.
Being able to change between wire antennas at the flick of a 4 position switch
was a luxury. No more racing outside into a wet, cow pat infested paddock,
great! Congrats to John VK4EMM with his excellent single op score.
Wilbert, ZL2BSJ
