Great time at WA3FET's Field Day style site in Puerto Rico...no commercial
power, no toilet, etc.

First hours of 116 then 118 on 10M with a nice pileup got things off to a
great start! Then 92 on 15 and 81, 83, 101, 89, and 83 on 20. Took all 6
hours at once from 05-11Z, thinking from there the low bands would be
tougher going than the high bands...wanted max time on the air in the
daytime. After feeling good to be with or ahead of the top 10 types 'til my
05z off time, I knew I'd have a lower number after taking all the off time
so early, but figured I could (hopefully) climb back throughout Sunday.
Rates Sunday started out in the sixties and kind of steadily dwindled into
the fifties then forties.
Tnx to WA3FET for the great site, to WP3R for the local hospitality and use
of the callsign, and Jim's other Penn State guys for sweating and bleeding
to build the station out of jungle and rock earlier in the year. A tour of
the Arecibo Observatory and a little time spent there both before and after
SS was a great bonus! 73 - Rich, KE3Q
