Conditions were the best I can remember, with 7MHz exceptional. Thanks to
all the DX and special activity stations that helped to make this Diamond
Jubilee event memorable, including 9G5VJ, VP2EJT, S79MAD, VS97BG,
V2/GM0GAV, 5X1P, 3DA0CA not forgetting the many HQ stations. I'm sure
there were others that I couldn't hear without a beam.
The station at G3LET ran 400w to a 260 ft sloping wire from 25ft high
(chestnut tree in back garden) to 130 ft high (sequoia in front garden),
fed with open line 1/3 of the way up, from the loft shack. This feed
method was developed through trial and error and totally avoids RFII, even
though the feeder passes within a couple of feet of the TV antenna.
Feeding the wire against ground causes several local alarm systems and
telephones to complain loudly !
