K5TT (Ex WV5S) 1996 ARRL 160M Contest Score
Oklahoma, High Power, Single Op
QSO's 762
Countries 11
Sections 75
Score 137,772
Equipment:
Quickly assemble shunt tower with variable cap still in the line.
Impedance changes as it "heats up". Some number of radials on
ground.
Short Beverages toward EU and JA.
Sick FT-990. Murphy played a little trick a week before test. Audio
level very low. Used DSP-9+ as audio amp. Loud sigs ( on freq and
adjacent) overloaded audio stages. That's the reason for so many repeats.
Alpha 76PA. It didn't break this time.
Low QRN for a change.
160m testing is the most fun. Thanks to everyone for making it that
way.
