Love that complex scoring system.
Activated 9 counties in NW and N central part of the state.
Great weather for mobiling - watch out for those big 'ol JD combines !
200+ miles - 150 on gravel roads.
My Land Rover mobile vehicle really loves 65 MPH blasts down those
straight,
and miles long, deep gravel back roads. Used an IC706 and High Sierra
HS1000
which really kicks butt for a mobile antenna. Being a die-hard member
of the
No Code Extra team, and not really getting into a CW test for quite a
while,
it was pretty dicey for the first hour or so. After that, it got easier
!
Just set the keyer at 30 and smoke 'em up.
Not too much luck working those IL counties except on 80 after dark.
Worked
fellow SMC'er N9JF a bunch and must have worked K4XU from K0RF's about
25 times !
First time mobiling in a contest - gotta get ready to kick some
cheese-butt
in the WI QSO party next year !!
