What a weekend. I'm physically and mentally wiped out!! Got little
sleep (worried a squirrel or mouse might attack me in my sleep), and
after the contest was over got stuck in bad traffic from people leaving/
going to the shore (I live in Cape May, NJ). Got home at 1030PM last night
and was back up at 5AM for a 12 hour shift at work......
OK, enough bitching..... The weekend was much like sweepstakes, fast
start, but by Sunday afternoon your rear is dragging. Unlike last year,
packet actually helped with a couple mults i needed being spotted as
well as the 10m openings being announced (only SO1R !!). The 10 meter
openings were direct path E-skip, and very short both days, about 1/2 hour
long each morning. Signals were VERY weak, and most were DL's most likely
alerted by packet just as I was.
If you really want a long writeup like I did for the WPX I can do it in
a few days, just let me know. Congrats to K1JKS for his great job as well-
Bill if you didn't have the 20/15 meter problems it would have been a photo
finish. Possibly my last WAE from the East Coast as I'm most likely getting
transferred next summer to KH2 or KH6 (USCG member).
***** REQUEST FOR EUROPEANS WHO WERE ON *******
Could you look back in your logs especially Sunday and see what kind
of numbers the UA9's and other competition were putting up? The UA9's
usually end up winning, but they aren't on the reflector so I have no
Idea how they did until next year when the results were published. If you
could give me their QSO number and time I would really appreciate it.
Anyway, I had a great time. Packet for single ops helps the fun because I
was constantly having packet chats with N3RD, K2NJ, WZ1R, and others to
help pass the time.
