PUT UP DIPOLE FOR 20 METERS TO GIVE ME ADDITIONAL FLEXIBILITY. FROM
NORTH ALABAMA, WE ALMOST HAVE TO HAVE ANTENNAS NORTH AND WEST FOR DOMESTIC
CONTESTS. I HAVE NEVER HAD SO MUCH TROUBLE PUTTING UP AN ANTENNA AND
GETTING IT TO WORK BUT THAT'S ANOTHER MEMO. THE GOOD NEWS IS IT WORKED
WELL (FINALLY) AND WILL BE IN PLACE UNTIL THE 4L 20'S GO UP NEXT MONTH.
SEEMS LIKE ALOT OF EAST COAST GUYS GAVE UP ON THE HIGH BANDS. 10/15
HAD GOOD PROPAGATION INTO NEW ENGLAND LATER SAT AFTERNOON. MOST OF THE
GUYS I MOVED TO 10/15 HAD GOOD SIGS HERE. THE BIGEST PROBLEM I RAN INTO
WAS HAVING TO RUN THE 75 YARDS, CLIMB THE TOWER TO ROTATE THE A3 TO THE
NORTH FOR 10/15 AND RUN BACK TO THE SHACK. IT WAS KIND OF LIKE A TRACK
MEET/RADIO CONTEST ALL IN ONE. THAT TOWER WILL BE COMMING DOWN SOON,
AFTER ALL, IT WAS ONLY PUT UP FOR FIELD DAY 95...
THIS IS MY BEST EVER SCORE IN THE NAQP, I'M STARTING TO GET THE HANG
OF IT. ALL I NEED NOW IS ANOTHER RADIO, PRACTICE AND A ROTATOR.
CU IN SSB TEST. WE WIL HAVE TWO 8TH GRADERS OPERATING FROM HERE IN
THEIR FIRST EVER RADIO CONTEST. THEY ARE UNLISCENESED AS OF YET
BUT MAYBE WE CAN CHANGE THAT. IF YOU ASK US TO QSY DURING SSB, WE
WILL SAY NO. I DON'T EXPECT THEM TO OPERATE MORE THAN 4 HOURS BUT I
MIGHT BE SUPRISED. I WILL CATCH UPON QSY REQUESTS LATER IN THE CONTEST.
