[Yaesu] desk mic for ft 990

What is the best desk mic for the FT 990, the MD-1 or MD-100? I talked to a 
friend who had just put an MD 100 on his 1000 "Field" and it sounded great. 
But some of the reading I've done this morning sounds discouraging to use 
the MD 100 with an FT 990. Is my best bet to try and find a good used MD-1?
