I suspect background programs are slowing down the computer so you see it
in the speed. I use a real old laptop and have found that getting rid of
the un-needed background programs helps the performance. The other thing
that could be happening is the computer is downloading an update and
loading down the CPU. Again, another thing to shut off for better
performance.
