Fellow CWers. I am a long time Writelog user since 1995 or so. I upgraded
through Win95/98 to XP and use Direct I/O to activate my LPT port for CW
keying via the simple resistor-diode interface.
My PC is dedicated to my rig and, as long as Pentium mother boards and
expansion cards remain readily available, I will stick with my old tower
because of the capability I have with five serial and two LPT ports. But I
would like to upgrade my ham PC to Win 7 like the rest of the world.
Why not? Because Direct I/O doesn't work with Win 7, and the Writelog
developers did not add a kernel (similar to DX4Win and N1MM) to V12 that
could be installed with a click of the mouse to activate the LPT port. So,
while V12 has lots of upgrades I would like to use, it looks like I am stuck
at XP and V11.
What am I missing?
