Does changing the ini file mentioned in other posts change the way the =
Cabrillo file is generated? =20
We entered the sections into the log correctly except NWT.
In case of QSB
Repeat, We entered the sections into the log correctly except NWT.
The Cabrillo file generation changing OR, MAR, and QC to ORE, MR, and PQ =
respectively is the real issue. If it does not count me points then I =
do not care what abbreviation Writelog uses in the Cabrillo file.

Dan,
I am sorry but the issue is not whether writelog will take MAR, OR, or =
QC. The issue is that when you generate a Cabrillo file using Writelog =
after the contest. The Cabrillo file generated for submission has MAR, =
OR, and QC changed to MR, ORE, and PQ. There may be a few others. I =
also realize that NWT is a problem. Since you have Writelog, please =
generate a Cabrillo file and look it over. You will then see for =
yourself what I am talking about.
Now, the big question is whether the log checking program accepts MR, =
ORE, PQ, and others? It may be that the log checking program has =
provisions that allows these old abbreviations to be accepted. I used =
Writelog last year and looked at my checked log on the ARRL site. It =
did not appear to ding us for this last year and I am hoping the same =
holds true this year.
I am sorry if I upset you about asking the people who write the log =
checking program if the program accepts the old section abbreviations. =
I am an engineer who sometimes has programmers write programs for our =
equipment. I have no way of knowing every line of code or provisions =
that they may write in to the program. I was hoping that perhaps the =
people who wrote the log checking program put in provisions for this =
kind of situation.
Please check your Cabrillo file generated by Writelog.
Thanks and Happy Holidays,
Dave Rich KG0US

Dave:
Since the log checking team follows my instructions, I can assure you =
that it is correct. I can also assure you that the list online is =
correct. I did a test with my copy of Writelog and found it took MAR, OR =
and QC just fine but did seem to have a problem with NWT. It did log it =
as NWT but did not count it as a mult. That is a problem with Writelog, =
not the ARRL Log Checking system You should contact them.
I need corrected files IMMEDIATELY. The SS CW logs are almost =
finished and the SS Phone logs are in process.
Thanks and 73

Dan,
Will you please check with the people that wrote the log checking =
program and see if this is true. If so, I and many others have a big =
problem. I am using one of the latest versions of Writelog. I found =
that it was not my wife and daughter or myself that put the old =
abbreviations in, but Writelog does it when it creates the Cabrillo =
file. First of all, is the abbreviations found on the ARRL website up to =
date? Writelog will not even accept NWT for Northwest Territories. For =
NWT a person has to put in YT or NT.
Oregon OR in our log is replaced with ORE in the Cabrillo file. =
Maritime MAR is replaced with MR in the Cabrillo file. Quebec QC in our =
log is replaced with PQ in the Cabrillo file. There are a few more but =
you get the idea.
If these QSOs really will not count, I would like to request that I =
be allowed to correct all these sections in the Cabrillo file and =
resubmit our logs for KB0VVT SS CW and KG0UT SS Phone. We worked too =
hard for these QSOs to get them thrown out because of something our =
logging program did.
Thanks,
Dave Rich KG0US

You need to use the current section abbreviations or the QSOs will =
not count.

Will the SS log checking program deduct points in I used old =
section names along with the new names?
Example:
ORE OR
QC PQ =20
MAR MR
I guess I am asking if I need to go back and correct these?
Thanks,
