The 850 has a separate FSK jack on the back and it needs to be shifted using
another comm. port. It's the only way I could get mine to work.

You're losing me here, Jim. You shouldn't need TWO comports to do FSK
and PTT. FSK is on the TX pin of the serial port, and PTT is on the RTS
pin. One com port is all it takes. 73
