I cant resist....

This Wednesday I traded in my aging 1996 Mazda B4000 4x4 (168,943 Hard Rover
Miles) for a very lean low mileage 1997 F150XLT 4x4.

Working 12+ hr days for the past several weeks, I have only had the time to
mount my IC-28A and throw a 1/4 mag mount on the roof.

While pondering, "Do I operate from home this weekend with all the large
antennas I spent weeks getting on the air... or do I go ROVER
with the new truck, Installing EVERYTHING this AM?" Hmmmmmmmm.... "I'll go
ROVER, Yeah, Thats the ticket!"

So, in true "field day" fashion, I am installing the radios and antennas
just before contest time and heading off to the Sierra NV mtns.

Route? What Route! This is shoot from the hip radio! I'm thinking of trying
out the new 4x4 capabilities by working my way up
to a tall mtn on the CA/NV/Lake Tahoe border like Genoa peak, maybe Corey
Peak above Hawthorne, or Slide Mtn near Reno.
Then maybe head into CA, ending up who knows where. Maybe over to Mt Diablo
or Mt lassen?

Sunday could be a typical I-5 Rover run south to Kettleman city or could be
spent on the couch with the NFL... Not sure yet.

My real goal is to try the new rig offroad, whatever else happens would be
icing on the cake.

Station should be:

6M - IC746, 100w, KQ loop
2M - IC746, 100W, stacked KQ Loops, Carry a 2m9ssb to set up now and then.
222 - IC706IIg, DEM xvtr, 140W brick, KQ loop
432 - IC706iig, 110W Brick, M2 Eggbeater

Sorry - No time to finish integrating 1296, Will be ready for Jan 2003.

Off to the hardware store!
