Make your own wooden insoles from 1/4" ply. Or get fancy spruce ply at the
hobby store. Do not make them long enough to rest your toes on or you might not
be able to insert them inside the boot.

That idea occurred to me, but the way they are made, it would destroy the
stitching between the top and soles, and the whole thing would come apart.
Don't want to destroy a $100 pair of comfortable work boots, even though they
may not be ideal for tower climbing.
