Greetings from a guy who is realizing a dream that has persisted since I was a
young’un. :)

Today, I just completed pouring a foundation for a Tashjian LM-354HD SP. In a
month or so, if all goes well, the tower and the tilt-over base will be
delivered and installed. My choice of antenna and rotator is still up in the
air (sorry, I just couldn’t resist!). Are there any Towertalkians out there
that have any tips or other wisdom to share about these beasties.

It’s located next to my garage, and about 7 of the 21.5 ft. (plus a 4 foot
mast) will be located above roofline. My city (Riverside, CA) saw fit to grant
a permit even though I live in a Neighborhood Conservation Area (more than an
ordinary residential district, but less that a full-on historical district).
One of the conditions I agreed to was that I would retract it when not in
active use. So besides upgrading to a more powerful motor wonder if anyone has
any experience with frequent extension and retraction. Tashjian has supplied a
manual, and I intend to follow its direction, but I know there’s a big pool of
knowledge out here (been reading this group for months now…amazing!) and
thought I’d try casting a hook into that pool.

Thanks in advance. Nice to be here.

73,
-Paul - W2PIR
