| In this issue (TowerTalk Digest, Vol 130, Issue 74) there were references to
coax protection and one had a price of a component in the text.
In a previous posting I noted that I used "split-loom", like used in engine
compartments. I bought the largest size available locally and enclosed 4
runs of LMR400-UF, one run Cat5e and one run Siamese (RG59 + 18-2). Not
only do they NOT get caught on the standoff rings (like they did once, and
that was enough !!!!) but the jackets are protected against chaffing; and
against UV.
Regarding remote motor operation vs. at the tower to lower: It is
convenient in inclement weather to lower from indoors. Of course I watch
the tower and coax, by using a remote camera which can follow the tower up
or down.
And BTW: I mounted a PTZ camera atop the tower, just below the mast. At 89
feet I get a good luck at the property, house, antenna and other wire
antennas. That is what the Cat-5e and Siamese are for.
Anyway: HTH
