Good Morning Don
John asks some good questions. To answer your question I would try to identify
the tower and find the base drawing. With the cost of erecting towers rising
every day I can understand the need to stick to the budget. This JMHO and I am
not a PE. There are certainly other ways to get your answer. I would get as
much
information as I could obtain and then the decision will be yours to make as to
the method that you will use. Good luck. Lets us know what you come up with.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Rebar schedule
I am about to put up my tower I recently purchased used from the estate
of a SK. The tower is of unknown make. The top sections look like and
are the same dimensions as a Rohn except they are 9' long. The sections
telescope at the ends but are not held by bolts through the legs but
rather by vertical bolts in short (<2") sections of tubing welded to the
legs. The base section is splayed out to 40" between the apex of the
tower legs. Mounting holes are drilled into pads welded to the legs on
42" centers with straps welded from the pads to the center where they
overlap and a hole is drilled. Everything is hot dip Galvanized.
I was told I should have at least a yard of concrete in the base. With
the base spread and the frost line here I think the base will be 48"
square by 30" deep. What I want to know is this a good size and how
much rebar should I have in the base.
