In October, I put up a UST HDX555, 55 ft. crank up. It called for a 5 X 5 X 7
ft hole, but we ended up been slightly larger (5 X 6 X 8). We ordered 10 yards
($85 a yard) of 3000 psi concrete, as the hole was nearer 9 yards big. We dug
the hole ourselves with a rented small backhoe, which turned out to be fun (I
watched my son do it). The cost of the rental was <$300 for a weekend. The
grade 60 rebar was < $150, which was bent by the rebar company to the UST
specs. and the other assorted supplies (rebar wire and twister, wood and nails
for the forms, 2X12's and 2X4's came to around $100. I can send you pics if you
want. E-mail me off the list.
