Contemporary disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in the US and the
Tsunamis across SE Asia brought many demonstrations of the emergency
response capabilities of radio amateurs.  You can find much media
coverage on this topic if you do some internet searching.  This would
provide a good example of the utility that amateur radio serves and
show that your antennas have potential to be a real asset to you
community.
