Hey all:
I picked up a nice looking rotator in Dayton that I believe is a Ham-IV.
Not completely sure, but that is my best bet. It has a tag on the bottom
where it was rebuilt by C.A.T.S in 1991. The AMP commector was installed in
the rotator and the cable end was still in the plastic bag from C.A.T.S.
with the installation instructions. Doesn't look like it was ever installed
after it came back from the rebuild.
Does anyone have a sure fire (or close) way to identify the rotator as a
HAM-IV, HAM III, HAM-II, or a HAM-M?
It came with a CDE control box. Here is the fun part. After wiring the 8
wire cable to the AMP connector to plug into the rotator, checking for
shorts and opens, all was well. I wired pin one of the cable to terminal
one of the controller, and did the same all the way trouugh #8.
Noticed that the ground lug had been cut off the AC cord to the control box,
but figured, what the heck. Plugged the control box in, turned the power
switch on, and promptly got the heck shocked out of me. Blew the 3 Amp fuse
in the control box.
I don't have a manual for the thing, so heres my plan:
Replace the power cord with one with a good ground. Replace the fuse.
Doublecheck my wiring to the rotator.
Any other ideas?
