This is not so complicated as you might think.
First a minute of latitude is equal to a NAUTICAL MILE so the terms can
be subtracted from each other.
Next is the conversion to STATUTE MILES which is what I think you are
looking for.
1 nautical mile equals 1.1508 statue miles
