I was addressing the point about snagging air planes. At least they could
see the blinking red light at night on the dirigible and say 1/2 way down.
Using a wire that doesn't always break as you suggest is a poor choice of
wire. Use a stronger wire. You are certainly right that it could be a big
mess if it broke off below. Perhaps a blow up circuit could be triggered on
it at release of wire tension. You don't lose the dirigible that way either
and just have a hole to repair. k7gco

It is the balloon that snapped the wire somewhere and is now loose
trailing 100' of wire that is the hazard.
Also, when it comes down, that wire can fall across power lines.
