Hi TowerTalkians,
I am building a Beverage. I visited http://personal.isla.net/ice/ and I
read the specifications of the devices that ICE offers. I could not decide
between ICE Models 180A, 181A and 184A. I already understood the basic
differences but I still have some questions. I sent several E-Mails to ICE
but never got an answer. So I am posting here some Questions. Perhaps some
of you can give an insight.
TIA

Notes
-----
#1: I read that Model 180A accepts both 50 and 75 Ohms feedlines. I could
not find this information about Model 181A.
#2: From what I read, Model 181A allows one to apply a DC voltage into the
Beverage for remote switching. This part is not clearly explained in the
texts so I could not fully understand this feature. I want to evaluate this
feature and decide whether I should buy 180A or 181A. I can think of
something to change the main lobe of the antenna by using relays, but I
can't see how a single 181A takes part in such a system.
#3: Model 184A is a Model 180A (which is a DC blocking unit) plus a filter
plus a preamp. So, 184A is clearly more useful than both 180A and 181A, BUT
it is DC blocking!
Questions
---------
#1: Does Model 181A (DC passive unit) accept both 50 and 75 Ohms feedlines too?
#2: Could anybody suggest a practical example, mentioning wires, devices
and components, where advantage is taken from the fact that 181A is DC passive?
#3: Supposing that I may ever need the DC passive feature, I shall not buy
Model 184A. Does ICE offers another version of 184A which is not DC blocking?
#4: It is strange that ICE does not reply to E-Mails. Is ICE out of business?
