Dear TTs,
I have two Ham4 and one Tailtwister rotators on Rohn 25G towers using =
Rohn rotator mounting plates.
I noted that the clearance between the top of the plate and the bottom =
of the rotator is very close for the old 'terminal block style' of =
rotator. The newer ones have pigtails though.
I also noted that the rotator/plate Bolts are Very long and so...
I got the brainstorm idea to add spacing between the rotator and =
mounting plate with a 'nylok' nut which does Two things... Adds the =
comfort space to preclude any shorting of wires and ease of =
maintenance... AND... will also help you from having to wear a hardhat =
around your tower base!
Of course, becuz of the close clearances, it IS a bit tricky doing the =
retrofit hanging UP on the tower with nuts in mouth, wrenches in hand =
and extra bolts in pockets... but... Hey this IS HAM radio, right?
Never had the plague of falling tower parts... Yet!
