I am looking into fabricating a mounting bracket for attaching a beam to
the side of my Rohn 45 tower. I found some info in the tower-talk archives
that used 2 pieces of aluminum channel, U-bolted to the tower, and
extending past the side of the tower. A short mast is then U-bolted to the
aluminum channel extensions which supports the beam.
The beam I am planning on mounting is a 6 element 15 on a 42 foot boom.
What kind of aluminum channel will be sufficient ? I found an aluminum
supplier on the web who has 6061-T6 6" channel, with 3.250" lips, and .210"
thickness. Is this strong enough ?
Thanks,
Steve, N2IC/0
