Hi Gang,
Co-incidently, I too recently finished the VK0IR...Heard Island DX-pedition
book. All you guys into contesting and dx chasing will really love it.
While I only have a passing interest in these radio sports.... I found the
book a wonderful read. Kind of inspiring I'd say. Fabulous pictures! I may
just be inspired enough to take up the dx challenge. You guys don't seem
all that crazy now. Only slightly warped.
By all means do try to get you hands on the book. The modest cost is
ridiculous compared to the quality of this edition. I've read several tons
of books through all my years but never one constructed of this quality
paper and so lovingly bound and printed. It literally feels as good as it
reads.... which sounds terribly stupid to say.... but you have to experience
it to believe it.
Besides.... the book helps to finance the dx-pedition....which I DIDN'T
WORK....DRATS! Imagine spending $400,000 to call CQ DX and work 80,000
contacts from a God forsaken island! Did I say only "slightly warped?" Oh
well, What price fun?
Please don't waste your time flaming me over this post. Save your pennies
and buy the book. Then write to thank me for the recommendation ...or the
twenty guys who made it all possible.
73 all,
Roger, K2JAS
