you need two things:
1) if10b (check with kenwood in VA 804-340-1702 -
they might have a couple left if your rig does not
have it already)...
2) level converter - your could build one, get the
kenwood if232c (i think that is correct) or talk

he produces a nifty TTL <-> RS232 Interface
embedded into a db25 shell and takes power from
the serial port.
I used his interface and it works FB!!
