When I toured 160 on Friday evening (local) I was dismayed at what seemed
like a very high atmospheric noise. I thought, "This is as bad as it gets!"
Not so! Saturday evening was even worse!
However, in truth, condx have been hot and cold the past week or so.
Recently I was able to work 10 or 12 EU one night, but couldn't do squat
the next. To wit: With OK1CF boiling in one night last week, I couldn't get
his attention with the full legal limit. Then last evening he was much
weaker, and he heard me the first time I called with 50 Watts.
One thing I've learned in the 40 years of hard labor on 160, every time I
tune the radio to 1.8 mHz., I expect to eat a hugh slice of humility pie.
That's why I keep the little refrigerator near my ham desk.
GL this weekend!
