Yes. I have found out that the best way to operate a 160m contest is to
not run around looking and calling CQ but to sit on one freq and call CQ
and 1) hope the band opens for a few minutes (I don't know when) and 2)
someone hears you and gives you a call............
last AADX i had tried forever to work a certain JA8, i shut down the rig
Saturday morning, got back on Sunday morning, not touching any of the
controls, and there he was! I worked him and he faded, just like that.
I have build a 6AG7/6V6 xtal osc i can switch in place of my VFO, so for
the rest of my life when working 160m contests in "run" mode, i will be
calling CQ TEST on the same freq...................
