Thanks for the info, everyone. I knew I was going to be in for a lot of effort
but it seems everyone's suggestions are going to really add in the effort HI.
Maybe Ill take Jim's suggestion of a dipole in addition to an L or T for
close-in stuff. Im thinking about a flag-type antenna for RX, possibly
rotatable. I dont want to set up beverages. I know they are the best (other
than a big phased TX/RX array like a 4-square or 9-circle) but I dont want to
have to deal with ground rods in winter. With my luck we'll be getting 2 feet
of snow during the contest HI.
I have an ICE beverage matching transformer box (I think its a model 128?
158? I cant remember.. it has about 4-5 different taps from about 150 to 6-900
ohms and an SO-239) as well as a 160 preamp, so Ive got those covered.
Im going to be doing this as a single op, so I will have to do all the
assembly myself. Therefore, the least amount of effort the better (to a point).
Ill be able to go out to the QTH before and operate to get a feel for what the
contest will be like, also, so Im not going to go out completely un-prepared.
