Here's some news from Johnny at YA8G:
He notes that he was QRV and ready to go last night but had no A/C power at
his sunrise. This is often the case and he regrets not being able to have been
on when he had hoped.
He will continue to be active and is quite excited about trying to work more
US stations when he can hear them.
He advises that he will make some enquiries about generator power but worries
that it make keep some of his UNICEF neighbors awake if he does.
He is using a short inverted L on 160m - with 26 short radials he says. He
notes that is actually is running 750w output into the L (I thought it was only
100w but not so he says!)
He has asked for some help with a PC CT keying problem he is having.
Let me quote his querie as best I can.
He is using CTWIN 9.92 and wants to do CW keying through the LPT port. He
says he is running WIN XP and has installed DLPORTIO.SYS and .DLL into his Win
directory.
Still, it does not work.
Does anyone out there know how to make the LPT port work under WIN XP running
CTWIN 9.92? I don't - so can anyone please comment to K1ZM@aol.com?
On a final note, Johnny knows that US darkness overlap is quickly evaporating
at his sunrise. There is a CHANCE his UNICEF contract may be extended. This
is not certain at all at this point - but were it to happen, he says he will
be looking forward to the FALL and WINTER season ahead.
It should go without saying that his efforts are appreciated and it is quite
exciting to have someone truly dedicated to the lowbands on the air from YA
with a KW and inverted L!!
It doesn't get much better than this!
