It would be interesting to see, in non-jargon English, a description
of (or debate about) what people who study the ionosphere think is
going on.
A back and forth exchange in some moderated forum would be
enlightning!
Perhaps we need a few moderate or high-power beacons on good
antennas to watch (but not on 1845 like that silly OK1EV thing),
like we used to have when DHJ was on 1831.5
The six meter ops have a page that shows open paths, why not
160? Anyone know how they do that?
I observed signals were always there all evening, but went through
very strong peaks. Stations that were just at my noise floor (S2) for
*very* long periods of time came up maybe ten or twenty dB (to
over S-9 on my typical poorly linear "S" meter) as they peaked and
then dropped back down to poor levels.
Here is the solar report for that time period. Note the Aurora level,
at the bottom, was way down to 1 for a period of time!!
