This wont be news to W8JI with his great station and a year long season.
There are other factors besides propagation, qrn, putting out Beverages - one
being zzz. It has been hot here, about 100 F nearly every day with
thunderstorms and lightning and forest fires, so energy has been low and qrn
high. With the low energy and getting more sleep (zzz) it hasnt been
productive for 160.
Our sunrise here in Montana is now about 6 am (1200z) so the outlook for 160
dx is getting better. This morning I decided to try this theory and with a
cup of coffee started listening around 5:30 am. (1130z). No VK, no JA. Well
lets try a cq dx. It worked!
Good signals and qsos with VK3XU and VK3ZL. (1148 to 1155z). Some qrn but
not bad.
The season has begun. 73 Bob W7LR
