I agree with all Bill's comments on the EWE, including the above.
I find that the width of the front lobe can be reduced significantly when
using two EWE's phased, spaced about 40m apart. This clearly needs more
real estate than a single loop, but nothing like what is required for a Bev,
and can be fitted on to my city lot.
Earl's (K6SE) pennant antenna is even smaller, and has about the same
performance.
