C91CO (Jon Rudy, 3DA0CA):
I plan to travel to Maputo early morning 23 October. I will hope to be on the
air by 1400z that same day. Due to space restrictions I have added a twinlead
doublet for 40 and 30 meters to the 160 meter dipole. Between these 3 bands I
hope to load up on 20 and 17 meters. Sorry to those who need 80 meters...maybe
next time. If possible I will hang the dipole in sloper configuration from an
18 story building with radiation toward WSW. If this is not possible then I
will hang the dipole inverted V style with apex about 5 stories up and oriented
to radiate N/S. I will have my 500 watt amplifier along. Also, due to noise
restrictions I will limit my contesting to between about 0330z-1800z during the
CQWW SSB contest. Other times I will stick to CW.
Look for C91CO on the following frequencies:
30 meters:
10.100.5Mhz listening up (or 10.108 up)
40 meters:
7.003Mhz up or 7.006 up, 7.023 up 5 (for USA non-extra class)
160 meters:
TX 1828Khz RX 1836Khz (23, 24, 25, 28 Oct.)
TX 1812Khz RX 1816Khz (26, 27, Oct. during contest)
*2030z to 2115z I will listen for JA's on 1910Khz
Note that I will try to call and listen on the 160 frequencies every 15 minutes
(on the 15 minute mark) during my dark hours from about 1602z to 0310z. If
nothing is heard, I will go back up to 30 or 40 and continue with pileups.
On all frequencies I will listen up on at least a 2kc spread.
I will take down the antenna after sunrise on 28 Oct. at about 0600z.
Thanks ahead of time to Bob, W4DR and the Central Virginia Contest Club for
help with the equipment. Also our reps in Maputo for putting up with a ham for
111 hours. QSL via W4DR.
