Please lets all remember that there are a million hams in JA and several 
million+ in the EU communit(ies). All those folks cherish their
rigs and the QSOs they make on their side of the ocean :-) Each of
them has paid for their rigs with hard earned cash just as we have.
I submit, that for a Ham Radio manufacturer to stay in business, they
must appeal to the skill level, popular modes, and price sensitivity of 
each of these diverse markets.
