[TenTec] problem with 6+ audio

My omni 6+ developed a strange problem during the ARRL sideband contest.  After 
transmitting, the receive audio
starts pulsing.  It sounds much like the Russian woodpecker.  It will 
eventually stop but will start again after the 
next  transmission. It may also start after turning on the radio.  It happens 
on all band and modes. Any body have any ideas?
