I would think that we should set the sell price for the new Orion. Once that
is done we can probably figure out what features it might have. Every
feature has a price. It will have at least what the Jupiter does so it can't
cost less then the Jupiter. Since TT knows what the potential sales are for
a rig of a given price they have already set a max limit. It must cost more
then the Jupiter by enough so it doesn't cut into Jupiter sales. My guess is
at least $1600 but not more then $2300. So, what do we add to the Jupiter
functionality that will bring it to this level, under the Orion name? I
would think that we would expect a better rx section. A better display.
Perhaps a more sophisticated means of matching a mic (any external mic) and
the voice characteristics of the ham. A better spectrum display (quicker
scanning, more resolution.) So, how much do I have left to spend?

Subject: [TenTec] Ultimate ORION Rig
Hi,
I've read all of the posts on the possible new Ten Tec
rig and think there are a couple of features we've
missed.
For one thing, I think it ought to come with an
automatic coffee maker so that you don't need to leave
the shack to get a caffeine fix.
For another, how about an outboard motor so that you can
use your rig and go fishing at the same time?
Another great feature would be a microwave oven for
heating hot dogs during Field Day or contests.
Or what would you think of a roll-away bed which pops
out of the rig for use on DXpeditions?
Gee, the list of desired features just seems to go on
and on and on...
73s,
Rick
