Hey Robb:
I'm a Ten-Tec Omni VI owner since July '93. Upgraded to the "plus"
(option 3) in '97.
The Omni VI is the finest radio I have ever used or owned in my 43
year amateur and commercial op experience. Especially the receiver.
The only exception is a homebrew triple conversion, one-of-a-kind,
receiver that my pal W4WHK (now K4IG) constructed years ago. He is a
CW receiver aficionado. Guess what? He now exclusively uses an Omni
VI with "plus" upgrade.
The Ten-Tec service and response is terrific. I've had two problems
with mine since purchase; the TR swiching circuitry went west in '94
and in '93 the D4, D5 on low pass filter & D7, D9, L3 on band pass
filter failed. Factory repair turn around time was almost as fast as
the speed of light by comparison to the Japanese equipment service
centers.
Try it, u'll LOVE it! Load it with filters from the factory. They
install at no charge.
