Pay attention to the recent economic problems in the "Pacific Rim"
countries. It MAY result in lower prices here, but at the expense of
our economy, namely, deflation. Re: service, all too many supposedly
intelligent people look at only one (sort term view) aspect, namely,
price. Check out how much it would cost for simple grease fittings to
be standard equipment on vehicles - even as an option. "Lubed for life"
- an oxymoron. I used this as an example, but it applies to virtually
everything, including HAM gear. Luckily, we have one around with a
different attitude. Too many people play the game of cost of labor
without considering the normalized (to that location) cost of living - a
nasty fallout of "the global economy". Sorry - off my soapbox - but a
hot button.
