Hello all:
I will be one of two QRP Foxes running on some frequency between 14050
and 14070 kHz Thursday night local date, 0100 to 0230Z Friday. The
other will be Dave, N1IX, in NH.
The exchange is RST, SPC, Name, Power. You must run no more than 5
watts and you must not spot the Foxes' frequencies.
I will be running 5 watts from my FT1000MP and will switching between
two antennas, a TH6DXX at 55 feet and an 88' center fed zepp up about 50
feet. I will start out calling CQ FOX DE K4BAI UP. I will be split
listening up 1 to 1.5 kHz. After the initial pile has died down, I will
stop sending "UP" and will be listening simplex for the rest of the
90-minute period. Any QSOs made will count for the various CWOps and
FOC awards.
I will be turning the beam and switching to the wire and band conditions
will be changing. Sometimes it pays to hang in there until the end of
the period as the band may lengthen in your direction or the skip zone
may shorten.
I hope many of you will join the QRP Fox Hunts. There is a web page
that you can find by an internet search for "QRP Fox Hunts." There, you
will find the schedule and rules for the Fox Hunts. There is also a
fall-winter-spring season with fox hunts at the same time on Tuesday
night on 40 meters and on Thursday nights on 80 meters.
73/72, John, K4BAI.
