Subject: Reception Report RE: the abusive guy on 40 Meters
To: dave at pkministrywebs.com
Dear Dave:
First off, I am writing to report hearing your signal on 40 meters on 23
Aug 2014 at 23:51z until about 23. 57z. I am just a shortwave monitor
rather than a Ham, so forgive my contacting you directly. Normally I do not
bother amatures with reception reports and just log them, but the extremely
abusive guy who got onto the frequency made this a first for me as a
monitor and I wanted to get confirmation from you if possible. So here is
my report.
Report:
I logged you on LSB on a frequency of 7.187.60 MHz. It sounded as if the
abusive caller may have been ever so slightly off your beat-frequency.
Equipment and Location:
Rx site was my shack in the suburbs outside Toronto, Canada. I monitored
you using my Icom R-75 with a 60 foot outdoor randomwire tuned by an
MFJ1020C ( actually an active antenna module that I modified into an active
preselector by removing the whip and replacing the amplifier with a higher
quality component.)
Reception Quality:
Absolutely terrific signal. You were peaking at 20 db over S9 with no
notible fading and no significant adjacent signal interference (the
annoying "interference" was the guy on your beat frequency, haha!). I
needed no filtering, autonotch, NR, or other tricks to get a clean signal
from you.
Details of my monitoring:
>From 23.51 to just at 23.52 z your CQ's were unanswered. At about 23.53
another operator came onto the frequency, saying in a very horse and loud
voice "Roger roger." It was if he was screaming into his microphone and his
equipment sounded as if it might have been of poor quality. His signal was
considerably weaker, barely reaching s5. He continued saying "roger roger"
repeatedly, but you only acknowledged him once and ignored him after his
first attempt to hijack the frequency. I pulled out my phone and made a
video of some of the abuse. A link is attached.
End of Report
Final note: It really sickens me that people can be so abusive of the HF
spectrum. I hope that you report this incident to ARRL, and feel free to
link the video, so that this operator can be identified and disciplined.
This is a wonderful hobby and it is a shame that people like that bring
their nastiness onto the bands.

Thanks for reading my report. Just a simple email confirmation is all I
need for my records.
