We have witnessed an awe-inspiring Georgia QSO Party in 2008! As of today,
per the web site, we have over 315 submittals! That approaches a 20% gain in
received logs over the 2007 party. The poor band conditions did little to
stunt
growth and scores. Some very impressive Low Power and High Power Scores
have hit the calculator. DX participation was at it usual great level with
some
"Sister Cities" abroad getting involved.
We now need to turn our attention to putting the fnishing touches on this
year's
GQP. So far, I have only two checks in the coffer for Bonus prizes which
totals
$80.00. We are waaaaaaay behind on money here. The estimated cost including
shipping of prizes will approach $200.00. Shipping costs have risen sharply
since
last year thanks, in part, to the gasoline situation here in the states.
I implore you to check into getting a promised check in the mail to the address
listed below at your earliest convenience. If you have not considered becoming
a
sponsor for bonus prizes, please do so.
The bonus prizes are part of what brings the contestants, far and wide, to our
GA QSO Party. A $40.00 contribution will be a great help in satisfying the
upcoming
expenses of purchasing and shipping prizes. Contributions for sponsorship in
excess of $20.00 will be listed on our web page for proper recognition to those
who
are mindful in keeping the GQP at its present high quality.
