Hi Jay:

I do what I thought everyone does.  I mark out any callsign claimed to 
have been worked and any "via ____" callsigns so the card won't return 
to me again and mark the card clearly "return to ______."  Then I write 
a note on it something like:  "Sorry, not in log of _____.  73, John, 
K4BAI, QSL Manager.  If it is one of my own trips, I may add "hope to 
work you next trip."
