Hello all: Please note this message from Bridget, KS4YT, and reply to
her with any suggestions for future Ala QSO Parties. Especially those
of you in Alabama. I hope to be able to operate from Ala next year
either fixed by borrowing a station or stations as guest op or mobile.
It isn't a long drive for many of us. If NY4N is on the reflector,
input from him and his XYL would be helpful also.
My immediate feeling is that it needs more publicicty and more operation
by Ala stations. With those two things, it will be successful. Maybe
it would be helpful to Bridget for those of you in Alabama who have not
been operating in the contest to tell Bridget why and what it would take
to interest you in doing so. I suspect much of it is just the feeling
that you are the only one doing it, so you quickly lose interest.
73, John, K4BAI.

Hi, John!
I would send this to W4NTI as well but don't have his e-mail address =
(and am too lazy to look it up right now). I am vice president of a =
local club (Tuscaloosa Amateur Radio Club; TARC) and we are considering =
taking on the Alabama QSO Party since NV4B is going to college and no =
longer wants to keep it going from his end. Since you and W4NTI are two =
people who usually enter this event, I'd like your input on changes that =
are needed/what you like/dislike, etc. regarding the event. I am =
jumping the gun a bit, but feel like the club will take it on (and if =
they don't, then Allan and I will probably take it on ourselves). It's =
kind of a neat feeling to be able to reinvent the wheel, but since we've =
only entered the contest once, felt that it would be nice to get input =
from some veterans. Chris has already e-mailed us regarding the ins and =
outs of managing the contest. We'll probably take the rules that are in =
existence now and make the changes as we see fit (and probably use the =
name I used in the subject line rather than the Heart of Dixie QSO =
Party). =20
So, please speak now or forever hold your peace, and please feel free to =
forward this to NTI or anyone else that you know of who does this =
contest. John Drum, W4BXI, is the one who asked our club to get =
involved with this. I'll make a general announcement on SECC once I =
know for sure that we will be doing this. Thanks for any suggestions =
you can offer!
73/88,
Bridget, KS4YT :0)
