Such an event does, in fact, exist! Now that I think of it, it's coming
up quick (at least the SSB leg). ARRL Sweepstakes is an excellent way to
work all states (and Canadian provinces) in one weekend. See
http://www.arrl.org/sweepstakes.

This past weekend I was working stations in the WAE contest. Like many
of
you may have noticed the bands "open" during a contest which to me
thinking. Why can't we have a weekend a year for a WAS contest. We could
choose bands (like 10, 20, 40, and 80) to use. Give points for contacts.
Exchange RST + State.
Maybe we could have someone step up to take the logs and issue
certificates.
I would plan on using it like I used the WAE contest. That would be to
fill in needs because the band will "open" and stations will be on the
air
where I can find them.
What do you think? Let's start at least talking about the idea assuming
that this hasn't been covered in the past. I'm open for ideas and
discussions.

I just got my 10m RTTY WAS certificate, #438. If that's the correct
number
it's no wonder it took so long to get it, hard for everyone. This was by
far the
most difficult out of 5 bands but it finishes off 5BWAS RTTY all LOTW.
