Hi All,
I arrived on site at Quartz Hill to find Club members rolling up wire from
two antennas that had been brought down in a wind storm earlier in the week.
The EU Rhombic and one of the NA Vee beams. No ordinary wind - reports of
gusts up to 140/150Km/h, and an 80-90Km/h zephyr on Sunday took out the open
wire feeder to one of the EU short path antennas.
I am very pleased to have exceeded my last year's score. Propagation was
poor from ZL particularly over the last few hours. Both 10m and 15m closed
on the last day leaving a few Oceania stations listening to each other
calling CQ!
The highlight was working Said CN8LI on 20m for the missing African
Continent - just a few hours before the end - a table thumper!
Working George W1ZT on 80m (14,725Km) was a thrill and completing three five
band sweeps was a great buzz. Thanks for the contacts catch you all again in
the DL-DX RTTY.
