Following is the answer to the interest expressed.

Many Japanese RTTY Contesters use RTCL (Radio Teletype Contest Log) by
JK1IQK as their contest software. The function of this software requires the
proceeding of DE in order catch the succeeding callsign. Lack of DE
inevitably leads to additional mouse operation.
