Hi Bill and the group,

Well, the technology certainly exists for what you describe right now, but
the question I have to ask is WHY?

It won't take much extra for it to be done totally automatically, and then
where would we all be?
It would only take a bit more development on the software side to automate
all the right responses, log the call, and call CQ, and all without any
human intervention at all. Soundcards could even be programmed to recognise
your own call, be it in CW, RTTY or even SSB.

We could have "virtual amateur radio" from countries that don't permit it!
Or imagine a P5 or 7O station, being run from the US of
A...................?
I guess documentation would fall down, but would you really need it if you
weren't really there????

Or how about a DXpedition to somewhere remote (a REAL one!) but you get your
own PC/rig to automatically try and work them???

The possibilities don't bear thinking about!!!

Just my OWN thoughts, and definitely not to be taken seriously!!!!

I do not think this is an extension of the SO2R debate that we have had in
the past, though........

Anyway, 73 from me "virtually" at work (well, I'm off home in half-an-hour!)
