Tom said he had noticed that the majority of contest stations seem to use
big toys.
Well, I am beginning to see more that are not.
There are quite a few of us who use wire antennas, etc, and run on low
power.
>From the post-contest lists that Roy produces, there does seem to be a
growing number of folk entering the low-power category in the last year or
so.
It's also obvious that there is an increasing number of (first time)
entrants in many of the recent contests.
As Eddie will attest, I have a very modest set-up, and I am often surprised
at what I can work. Of course, the GU prefix helps a bit, but for me, the
biggest part of a contest, and RTTY in general, is the FUN that I derive
from this hobby.
Of course, it goes without saying that I am never gonna win a contest, but
that isn't important to me.
Perhaps what we need to do is convert some of these small-pistol PSK ops to
the RTTY game?
As for rag-chewing, well the opportunity would be nice! With my GU prefix, I
reckon I can get about 4 decent QSO's in before I have to resort to RGR UR
599 QRZ?
